Artist Statement:
My videos center the embodied and subjective experience of vulnerability and loss. I work from the position that it’s necessary to grapple with the affective experience of crisis to cultivate resources for repair, mutual support, and resilience. Grief is a locus in these works for a world undergoing ecological crisis.
Using both found footage and scenes shot by hand, I combine first-person narrative with ongoing research into representations of nature in popular media. These works draw upon the varied aesthetics of stock images and advertisements, journalism and social media to describe the traffic between the personal and the communal.
